Accountwide HoM and those lacking Assassins/Rits in PVE
So I was looking at the account-wide Hall of Monuments and I realized that if you want to unlock Elite Imperial and Elite Exotic you need an Assassin or Ritualist.
According to http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/%22Resilience%22#Statues
To unlock all:
* Warrior (silvereagle) and if you buy all sets then you need Granite Citadel Elite Armor (Mesmer Elite Noble, Elementalist Elite Flameforged, Ranger elite Fur-Lined, Monk Flowing)
* Assassin/Ritualist
So:
W, A / Rt, Me / E / R / Mo (with a bias towards Mo, due to number of sets)
Also:
W: 17 sets (due to elite Templar and Silvereagle)
Mo: 16 sets (due to Labyrinthine)
N: 16 sets (due to Elite Profane / "15k tormentor's")
R: 15 sets
Me: 15 sets
E: 15 sets
A: 11 sets
Rt: 11 sets
P: 8 sets
D: 8 sets
Edit: We still don't know if Obsidian gives extra benefits, nor do we know the tier of minipets has any effect.

I think he's pointing out that not all professions have access to all armors. IE, core professions have most, but expansion professions only have their own expansion armors + later expansion armors availabe.
IE, there's no Marhan's grotto elite prophecies armor for an assassin available.
P.S. presumably he's worried how many points he can get from the armors for the GW2 legacy. Me, I expect you'll be limited to 0-5 points anyway...

Sounds like he's talking about PVP cheap armor sets.

He's saying that if you want to have every armor set in your HoM, then the only way of getting the Exotic or Imperial sets is if you have a PvE Assassin or Ritualist.
Not sure why that matters though.

Basically I was thinking of making a ritualist and I realized the investment better be worth buying 85 nonelite tomes and then going through 3 campaigns and an expansion. This is basically one reason to create an assassin or Ritualist that I considered. (I avoid making non-core professions)
Regardless, we don't know if Obsidian armor will confer different benefits. From PvP rewards it seems like it will but then again elite Canthan and EoTN armors are basic! (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/PvP_reward#Fancy_armor)
I really look forward to the information that they will provide on the Hall of Monuments transfer system as I see no reason to buy Obsidian otherwise and no reason to make an assassin or ritualist that I will not play regularly.

We don't know if having certain sets confers certain benefits. You don't just need an Assassin or Ritualist, you also need a Warrior and Me / E / R / Mo.
At the moment Guild Wars' Hall of Monuments is heavily favorable to warrior mains with Ritualist and Monk alts.

I think once you a pass certain number of armor sets getting them all might turn out rather irrelevant in terms of whats needed for HoM, Anet are smart enough to realise not everyone will spend there time purchasing every single armor for every single proffesion.

Will probably range from 0-5 points, as the monument is with 5 elite armors. Then you'll probably have some additional points for Obsidian Armor.

And here we have the one bit of truth that makes an entire discussion about this useless at this point in time.

...so? If you've been playing for any length of time, another set of elite armor is nothing. I purchased Elite Exotic for Rit, despite it being one of the ugliest armors in the game, just to have a set of every elite armor. I split it up a long time ago so I could have one of each and not buy too many multiples. I think I have two pairs of Elite Kurzick because I love the Sin/Rit ones and two pairs of Luxon for Sin/Ele, but otherwise I have one of each.
I'll post what I bought later on. Off the top of my head:
Assassin - Kurzick, Luxon, Norn, Ancient, Asuran
Ritualist - Exotic, Kurzick, Imperial
Elementalist - Obsidian, Luxon
Warrior - Primeval, Vanguard (forget the name)
Paragon - Vabbian
Mesmer - Noble (Granite Citadel)
Monk - Somethin... the non-tattoo armor from (Marhan's Grotto)
Necro - Sunspear
Dervish - Whichever one is left

At the moment, the possibility to switch to account-wide visualization voids this point.
The account-wide HoM is likely what counts to get rewards in GW2, so you can still get any armor model to your HoM if you really want to.

As I've said in another HoM thread I bought 1 of each of the 20 available armor types just to make sure. Who knows if it was worth the money or not but armor is fun regardless.
It sounds as though you are disappointed that a player cannot "fill" the hall with just one character class. Meaninig it requires several classes to get all available armors. I personally would be bored out of my mind if I didn't have a variety of characters to use. If that means it requires players to purchase Factions or NF other than Eotn and Proph, well that's good marketing to me...but now that the whole set is $20 cost is largely irrelavant.

so this discussion is totally open-ended until the big HoM announcment comes which they are taking their sweet time in giving to us, though have teased it a few times.
I'm sure there will be lots to discuss then, but until then it's all speculation and wants and not wants.

if you are in doubt, go ahead and get the rit armor (no need for all the tomes and stuff since you can basically do most of rit with an sos build--so one elite)....
I got my rit boy the elite imperial though he never wears it and my lady rit has the elite exotic (also never sees the light of day).....
and yeah got my warrior the silver eagle just for the monument (though I do kinda like it---)....
but I believe as has been said, it probably wont really mater---just a full HoM (so 5 armors) is what they require for now...anything else is well, just extra (until we find out ...at which time I will fork out for the buttugly fow).....

Yeah I got my female assassin the elite exotic armor just to fill my HoM with every possible armor set. You'll need multiple core classes to do this anyway (only core classes can access prophecies armor and you need more than one class to get all prophecies armor sets). I essentially made a warrior just to get the silver eagle armor to fill the monument (although he has come in handy with event raptor farming).
I just spread out the 20 elite armor sets over all my character with my main having 5+ armor sets (so I have a 'full' monument on a single character as well).

The point is you need to make 3 characters at a minimum. The most effective way is W, Mo, Rt since all those professions are in demand and maybe Mesmer instead of Monk if you hate playing Monk.
P.S. I hate playing a character on the exact same thing over and over again. That's why I have alts. But when EoTN rolled in, the title grind with reputation was a bit much. Plus, since I actually do secondary quests on my characters that becomes time consuming (especially in Nightfall). I made it a policy to not make PVE non-core characters and it seems it is a moot point now with the Exotic/Imperial being Factions mains only.

The old "fill the display" argument should have been thoroughly invalidated by now. Not only do you NOT need a "full" display to get rewards in GW2, each item displayed in a monument awards you "points" for something in GW2. Whether certain items are worth more than others, or whether rewards are split in category according to the monument, is not known... although there was vague mention that "extreme" achievements will be rewarded, which I would read as items not all having the same value.

What would be considered "extreme acheivements"?

Probably like GWAMM, or max PvP titles.
Obviously some will say GWAMM isnt too extreme or hard, and some will say something like treasure/wisdom are more extreme than GWAMM alone but I think the GW2 developers are looking at the titles and using the word "extreme" pretty generally.
